67TB of storage for ~$8k

I was checking out the post by BackBlaze about building cheap storage pods. Basically BackBlaze has created open source storage pods using all easy available parts, even the custom chassis is available from protocase.I did some quick calculation compared to LTO4 tape and the cost per GB is the same (assuming uncompressed LTO4) but you have the added power and cooling cost. The plus side is "live" reliable backup data. The down is there is no support (other than RMA for the components). I'm curious to see how well this would work with CAStor for cheap CAS storage.
